um you could try going into your launcher and clicking launch options. from there you enable historical versions. click add version, and then type the version (1.12.2) hope this helped
The newest version of Minecraft is 1.13.2. Since you're trying to launch an older version with a newer version of Java, I wonder if that's the issue. Let's troubleshoot.
I had a chance to look at the error log you attached. It says this at the end, "Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM warning: Using incremental CMS is deprecated and will likely be removed in a future release"
According to a few sources, putting any special characters in your Minecraft Player name can cause Java to crash. If you, by chance, included the "_" in your name that you have on PMC, try removing that from your username in your Account Settings on the Minecraft website. I'm not sure if you need to re-install Java.
For a better explanation, visit the link below. This is a very old issue but I don't see how it could have been fixed as Mojang has no association with Oracle or Java.
