so i updated my launcher because it said it needed to update. after the update i opened the launcher to find that all my versions are... missing? the only version i have is just the like recent version that is automatically on there, so, i went to the %appdata% folder to see if my versions were actually there or not and.. theres a file that is named version_manifest_v2 for after effects..? ..in the versions folder..????? and it was created today? i havent opened after effects, or like any adobe software today, so.. im confused, like why is that in there? is that the reason why my versions are glitched and gone? why was it created today? why did this happen when i updated? pleeeaaassseeee help me im so confused i just wanna play some minecraft

Adobe after effects might somehow share the same extension as minecraft, which causes the adobe icon to show up for a minecraft file. The program that windows thinks should open the file has nothing to do with what type of file it is. Minecraft will be able to read the file just fine even though Windows thinks it's an Adobe after effects file.
I don't know the cause or a solution, but you can just create new profiles in the launcher and start playing again.
