I uninstalled the launcher, then reinstalled it, and it looks like that fixed the problem.

Maybe file conflict, move your .minecraft folder to somewhere else and try again ( it will re-generate fresh .minecraft folder)

Wouldn't surprise me, but Idk. I guess, for the time being, just use the new launcher, even if you don't like it.
