Updating problems

My Minecraft will not update to 1.6.1 I've tried most of the methods "Delete bin and retry ect..." I've even turned off my computer and turned it back on can someone help please!

you see the other problem is the launcher said the game ended in bad state.(my problem) Although, 1.6.2 is coming out july 8 retry with that update
Trulius is right. You need to download the new launcher to play 1.6+. The old one is, well, old. The link to the new one should be in the old launcher btw.
