Using other textures...against the rules?

Hello!

I’m not sure if I used textures from another Resource Pack, and adding them to mine, be against the rules? Clarification would be much appreciated!

of course it is, except if you get permission from the maker, or he said it’s copyright free, but some very simple textures that can be made by anyone cannot be copyrighted

Most texture packs won't have textures considered to be "simple".

Besides, even if the creator said you could re-use their textures does not mean you can just upload it all to PMC without making major changes. See https://www.planetminecraft.com/rules/#edited_content

yes right, by simple I meant some plastic looking textures made of 2 or 3 colors, I might for example make one and later find out that a pre existant pack has a similar texture, the coincidence rate with those type of texture is high

If you want to upload the texture pack to PMC:

If you're still unsure you can make a support ticket or message a Site Moderator.
It's unwise to take answers from members regarding the rules, because a lot of people have no clue what they're talking about.

If this is just for personal use (no sharing involved), you can often just use whatever texture you want and mash it all together. Again, this only applies for personal use.
