Vannila Server Not Working
Hello, i just made my vanilla server but every time my friend tries to connect it says connection refused:connect. I have had the whitelist both on and off. Whats wrong? On the server launcher and the minecraft launcher it says can't keep up! did the system time change, or is the server overload. What does that mean, is that why the server or my LAN world won't work?

Saying that it can't keep up most likely means that your PC does not have the memory or proccessing power to host a minecraft game. As for refusing to connect if your playing a game over the internet and not LAN you will need to port forward.
He's hosting it within his own network. No intention of wanting others outside his network to connect.
Will port forwarding interfere with everyone else (my family)using the same internet?

Firstly, Are you Playing in a Local Area Connection (LAN) with your friend? As in he is at YOUR house playing with you OR is he playing at his own house over the internet?
Well both, when he is at my house using my LAN it says that the connection timed out. When he goes on my vanilla server over the internet (not LAN) it says that the connection was refused.
I pinged my brothers computer (and vice-versa) and guess what it said, Request Timed Out. does that seem familiar. It is very similar to when minecraft said connection timed out. Maybe there is something wrong with the computers or the router. Might i need to get a tech person to check it out?
Your computers can't communicate with each other and that is why you can't play minecraft.

I allowed Minecraft (and Java just to be sure) on the firewall on both computers but it still didn't work. But i turned off the whole firewall on my brothers computer (not mine) and it worked great. 4 packets sent and received and none were lost. But i don't know what is blocking Minecraft. I know something is blocking it because when everything was turned off it worked fine. I turned my firewall off and my brothers on and it didn't work so it is something on my brothers firewall. Any suggestions?
