I play on a low quality laptop with optifine installed and mc has always run pretty smooth with just that, but recently a problem has developed which causes all of my movements to be super delayed, eg moving forward and jumping 3 seconds after I press the buttons. I don't know anything about computers but love minecraft and would appreciate some help.

maybe your laptop has got slower, maybe try using sodium or iris for better performance. If that doesnt work try testing your keyboard in case it's faulty.
You mean clicking your mouse/trackpad, and pressing keys on the keyboard has its output delayed in minecraft?

I've seen this if I'm running extra intense shaders but I don't know howw to fix it. Maybe download Fabric and get the sodium mod. Then you can get a zoom mod as well. Sodium increases performance by like 1800000 percent.
I know that this can be a problem in bedrock but I've never seen it in java, it's often a result of bad internet in bedrock (a problem on server or multi-player worlds). Do you have this problem on a server or a single player world and do you still get this problem when you play on, say, 1.8 or 1.14?
