View Distance of 32 Causing Game to Crash?

I just noticed that when I change the render distance from 12 to 32, all chunks just stop loading. Everything stops working. If I click on save and exit, it just becomes unresponsive and I have to force shut it down. What could be the problem?

Are you using a 512x512 resource pack?

If so, your PC might not be strong enough to do such a sudden transfer from 12 chunk loading to a 32 chunk loading. You seem to have been fine going from 10 chunks to 12. Perhaps you can increase your render distance in smaller increments? Add two chunks to your render distance, play a bit, add two more, play a bit, and keep doing that until the game doesn't feel stable. It might be able to get all the way up to 32 if you give it a chance to render in portions, rather than in one large skip.
(Think of it like a 3x3 foot cake. You're not going to eat the whole thing in one bite, or else you'll probably choke and die, or you'll die from over-feeding yourself. If you eat in many bites, you'll get through all that you can, and you'll be able to handle it. You won't die if you eat the cake in bites. Do the same thing when switching to a higher render distance.)

That large skip caused a lot of stress on your system, causing you to basically lag out.

If you're using a 512x512 resource pack, you might want to consider switching to a 16x16 one, make the switch to a 32 render distance, and then put the 512x512 pack back on.

Thanks. The small increments worked. I'm not using a 512x texturepack, idk why in the log it shows that.

Your example is pretty funny
