I am new to hosting servers on VPS/Dedicated hosts. So if someone can give me a little insight that would be awesome. I was told by a few people on a VPS live chat that dedicated servers would work best for my particular application, which is hosting minecraft servers. Only minecraft servers, no other game servers would be hosted on the same VPS/Dedicated Server. A few questions I have are listed below, if you have any answer, it would be greatly appreciated if you leave it in a reply! Thanks!

1. How much RAM should a decent Dedicated Server have in order to host atleast 10 servers at one time, keep in mind that whoever uses one of the minecraft servers hosted on that dedicate server, could have many maps, and a large amount of plugins, which need to be accounted for in the amount of RAM the Dedicated Server has.

2. Is a VPS or Dedicated server better for hosting that amount of minecraft servers, again keep in mind CPU power, RAM, and storage each has.

3. Can a VPS/Dedicated server do webhosting as well? For example a minecraft server being rented has the option for a website hosting addon.

4. What amount of CPU power/Storage should I be looking for in a VPS/Dedicated Server? *Note by storage I do NOT mean RAM.

5. If I were to decide to host other games such as Garry's Mod, etc. as well, would it be possible to do that on the same VPS/Dedicated Server. or would another server have to be rented. I understand that if this is possible more RAM, etc. would be needed to keep up with all of this.

That's all I can really think of for right now. If you have more insight to give besides the questions I've already asked, or if you need more information from me, let me know! Thanks again for the help, its really appreciated.

1. I would say 1.5 gigs to 2 gigs if you use per world plugins and multiverse. with those two plugins you can divide a server to different worlds instead of different servers, and just have a hub world connect to other worlds, using per world plugins to disable certain plugins in certain worlds and multiverse to allow teleportation and separation of the worlds. also I would recommend having at least 10-15 mb of ram per person you expect to join the server, so maybe you would be around more of the 1.5 gig side, but you might pull it off with 1 gig depending on how many plugs you have.

2. in my experience, dedicated. I would recommend MCProhosting, Beastnode, and SpartanHost to you. (maybe try Apex Minecraft Hosting, also) but VPS would work ok to. read http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/difference-between-shared-vps-dedicated-hosting for information on that.

3.Yes, look up Enjin. I can set you up a website on it if you wish to use it.

4.most server hosters have unlimited storage and use intel I3-I7 CPU's. like I said, just take a look at those hosters and decide which one may be better for you.

5. not necessarily, but it depends. if you used mods for Garry's mod you would definitely have to spring for the 2 gig, and would have to use Cauldron, Kcauldron, or Thermos instead of normal vanilla or forge to have mods and plugins coincide with each other. if you were using plugins and a texture pack for Garry's mod than you should be fine with 1.5 gigs.

but remember, ram depends completely on how many players you think will join your server and how many plugins you have. I would be able to give you better insight if you told me exactly how many plugins you plan on using and if your using mods for Garry's mod instead of a texture pack and plugin.
