I have played minecraft for a little over a year now, and absolutely love it. I stopped playing normal MC for tekkit last October and just decided to come back to normal MC, but to make my own server. I have no idea how to even begin to do this, and neither do my friends. If anyone would kindly help me out in the basics and perhaps some good (but not crazy priced) server hosts, and what exactly players like in minecraft server (like plug ins, etc) it would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I guess let me give a little more information.. I don't know even how to make a server that is able to be accessed by the public. I personally can't fund it, at the moment this is just an idea between me and my close friends. We thought up the idea when the owner of the tekkit server I am "Game Manager" of decided he wasn't going to care about the server anymore, and it is now basically dying and I'm trying to save it. We decided it might be better if we run our own server, where we can make our own changes/rules and have the ability to fix the problems ourselves, unlike the tekkit server. It's apparent I need to learn what all there is to know about owning/starting a server, as I am completely in the dark about it. It is something I really want to do. I just don't know how well it would work w/o a budget from the staff at this current moment in time. I do appreciate your help, I'm just really in the dark of this whole "Making a server" type of thing, and I don't really know where to even start, and I'm now realizing this lol.

I'm an admin of a tekkit server lol, but I am kind of new with commands. I've never hosted, but I figure I can never find a server that I exactly enjoy for long and staff are usually mean. So my friends and I decided we could try to start our own. I'll come check out your server in a minute
