Ok, so I know with essentials you get the
"Welcome {name} to the server!" message, and that is fine for me.
What I want to get rid of is the message that says:
"Steve has joined the server for the first time.
13483 unique players have joined this server"
Also, when someone joins back, the server says:
steve joined the game
[Server] Welcome back, Steve!
Anyone know how to fix?

You have 2 plugins managing user/first time user login/announcements. If you can post a screenshot or a list of your plugins here, I will be able to tell you what to do in order to get what I think I know you're trying to do.
The "person has joined the game" cannot be removed unless you find a plugin for it
. The "welcome user to the server for the first time" can be removed in essentials and replaced with anything.
