So I'm thinking about building a server for Minecraft. what kind of specs do I need for a good server? Example: CPU ram etc

I think you would have to be a bit more specific as it depends on the amount of players and plugins you expect to run. Try locally hosting a server and opening task manager to see how much ram it uses before buying the real deal.
