What's the best server host?
Hello people of planet earth and other planets.
I want to know, what is the best server host for a small private server.
I'm looking for a vanilla server for about five tot ten people and my budget isn't that big.
So, if you have experience with a good server host or if you just know a good server host I would like to hear about it.

Im no server host but I've got a few extra GB of RAM available if youd like you can use it. It would come with a 25565 port. Just pm me.
In my opinion, if you have a good computer, nice wifi, and a safe connection, home hosting is your best bet. Although it might be laggy for some people, mosts hosts have that problem as well, and with my home-host, I have never had a complaint about lag. I think it's the best because it has unlimited plugins, completely free, and easy access to files!

I think you are quite misguided. A good computer, and I hope you meant a server and not desktops as they are not meant to run 24/7 then you can do this no problem. WIFI? a server on wifi sounds like a joke to me. please don't, use cable for a stable and faster connection. Safe connection? what do you mean ?
Home hosting ain't the best for everyone. First you need a server. Second space. third you have power bills and hardware bills, so it's not as "completely free" as you claim. TBH this claim sounds like you live with your parents and don't pay bills no offense. Next "unlimited plugins" this is merely a guideline most hosts have. NOT a hard limit. Easy access to files? Well FTP is so easy I don't see anyone having issues with that. it requires a connection to an external location and a ftp program which every well known OS has.

I agree with you on this. I personally do home hosting but thats because I own two rather beefy servers. Sadly I never can guarantee 100% uptime. No one can due to the fact that you have to factor power outages, internet issues, and much more. I try to keep a 99.9% uptime and work hard to keep it there. I would do hosting for people who would like. The servers I have a big beefy servers and have multiple connections so I am not worried about latency. Again they are capable of running 24/7 unlike a desktop that should never run 24/7 as you will shorten the life of the system.
But again I am always glad to host.

I use hosthorde. If you wish to keep it vanilla then I think you'd be fine. They don't like to offer support unless you're running the lastest version of stuff which I am not and refuse to do at the moment (my server is 1.8 with plugins). However there are so many servers already out there struggling to get members, why not look for one that someone else hosts that is suitable to your needs and save yourself the money and hard work in running one?
Like I was saying. I had bad experiences with some of the biggest hosts and great experiences with rather small hosts.
It really differentiates from person to person. However the safest bet is with one of the bigger companies. How else would they get big right?

I'am aware about realms but they are pretty expensive for the server prices I have found.
Also, I wasn't aware that others couldn't suggest a server host or any other website for that matter.
Then, the reason I asked here is because I already used a search engine, but I thought, if someone here had a bad experience with a certain server provider, I wouldn't get into the trouble they may have had.
