So I was having fun playing minecraft on my new laptop, (using it now) and the my mom kicks me out of it to use it. After she's done, I open up minecraft and the fps drops from 62 to 10. So please if anyone knows what could have happened please tell me.

No, sorry you only get about 60 fps. due to your monitor refresh rate; also this post isn't relevant to the current situation.

Maybe your mum opened lot of background application,it take up lot of system ram and caused Minecraft slowed down.
umm, ram doesn't slow down your computer...
