OK--so my computer crashed and I re-booted the whole thing to factory condition. All cleaned up and ready to go. Before the crash, I had minecraft downloaded and working awesome. 1.7.9 version, was able to download texture packs (128 x 128) using % appdata%-.minecraft-resource packs. So after the crash, I downloaded minecraft again, 1.8 this time, and then downloaded some of the same texture packs that I had previously. Did the %appdata%-.minecraft thing and lo and behold, no resource pack to click on to download my texture packs! Where is it?? Does anyone know? What the heck did I do wrong? MC 1.8 downloaded fine, but it is the original large pixel and I want better! Help!!

Thank you folks for all of your help. Looked up how to do that, did it and now off to download a resource pack to see if it worked. You guys rock! Thank you!!!
Name the folder resourcepacks, place it in .minecraft, put your resource packs in there and boom!
New folder. Make sure you place it in .minecraft. 1.8 still has bugs so why don't you put that bug on the bug tracker.
how would I do that? I am definitely not very computer savvy. Could you help me out? Thank you!
Just make a new folder. Simple as that.
