Why do certain chunks take longer to load in the dark?

I was just wondering why certain (well, almost all chunks) take longer to load in the dark instead of the light.

It is not my computer lagging by any means, my computer has 1TB of storage and 10Gb of ram. The frames sit at around 130 - 160 when the stats are maxed out, plus my used memory (in-game (F3)) is around 5-20%.

Maybe its because no activity is around the chunks (mobs, liquids, etc.), that's my theory, but I am not precise though.

Someone help me plz!

Light in Minecraft is additive which means once the highest level of light is reached (16) the lighting program can stop working and move on.

In programming we call these logical fall-thrus early exits.

By in the dark do you mean while it is nighttime. If so Minecraft would need to handle hostile mob spawning, using more of the allocated ram.
