Why do people hate horses so much?

My personaly opinon about horses listed in pros and cons.
Pros: You can escape a little faster.
If you live in a plains biome, you have a companion right there.
Some are really unique looking.
You are no longer alone in singleplayer :3
You now have a use for all that useless sugar, other than cake.

Cons:
The only one I personally prefer is the white one with the black back. It looks kind of sprinklie/ covered in soot.
They are seriously laggy and glitch.
They take forever to tame.
The sounds are seriously annoying. I no longer use the sound thing. Nor music. Im off topic :O
All they do is sit. I mean, donkeys carry your stuff, but horses just... mooch your haybales and wheat.
They basically replace the epic wolves. I used to love spawning packs of them and making them color coded collars.

Now, what I wish they added to/about horses.
I wish..:
they had lether armour you could dye.
they had more of a purpose.
better patterns.
less fat/remodeled.
flying horses, unicorns, Unipegs, death horses, skele horses, slime horses, zombie horses that aggressive mobs could ride on (like the spider jockey. What happened to thoes?! >:O), horse hybrids ex: chickorse(chicken), corse(cow), horeep(sheep), zomorse(zombie), ghaorse(ghast) (basically any mob mixed with a horse, and you could tame le mobs to make them breed! :O)

What happened to spider jockeys and all that other cool stuff? >:O

Because, llamas are better. Llamas can carry 115% of their body weight while a horse, only 110% I'm sure everyone would be sah happy if they added llamas.

There are many reasons why users hate horses.
There are different sides of why this happens. Many reasons I cannot list.
But one of my reasons I think horses are a little hateful is because they can be fustrating to look after... There are many details of how.

Also most do say that on servers, that can be buggy, laggy and other issues, horses just make it worst. Obviously on a server that has a big growing community.... I remember on one of my servers I used to play they banned horse spawn eggs because of that.. So when you try spawning a horse a little message appears on chat and says that you do not have permission to summon this item.
That goes for everyone on the server.

Okay let's move on, I have something off topic to say, but you are doing it. Most of you's say that Minecraft is 'medieval' and all that stuff, but honestly, to my opinion I do not think Minecraft has a theme (Except for blocky).

I do not think Minecraft is just medieval. When you first start a world, I will most likely say that you will start normally, trying to get resources, and other stuff like the olden times such as the stone age. But then when you have a well growing town, and as you enter further to a good community on that world, it get's more modern.. Although it doesn't have computers, all of that stuff. It still has swords, etc like what they had in the medieval times.
So in conclusion, I would say that Minecraft is medieval AND modern.
So please stop the flame wars about that. It is not even worth writing nor reading.
Don't even be involved in that stuff. Your just making threads being locked.

Let's get back in topic, everyone has different opinions why they hate horses that much. I do not have a problem with horses. Okay, maybe some but I am not that disrespectful to them.

They're cool and all, but when push comes to shove, they're just a gimmick and serve no practical purpose.

I have yet to see anyone do anything with their horses beyond shutting them up in a pen and complaining when they die/disappear.

Reasons I hate horses:
-You see the scenery better walking
- the annoying children demanding for horses
-people who think stealing horses and horse armor is "Cool-io" (that new hip stuff)
-How you can't have a horse head
Alot of people agree with those reasons so yeah.

1. Who said Minecraft was Medieval?
2. Who said Minecraft was simple?
3. Why would players on horseback be smaller than 3 blocks tall and 2 blocks wide?
4. You can go faster than ever in Survival!

All of the complaints against horses are just petty, I swear...

People before 1.6: WE WANT HORSES

People after 1.6: HORSES SUCK THEY SHOULD BURN IN THE DEEPEST PIT OF HELL.

I love horses, its just that i guess people think the sound is to abnocious

I don't like it because they seem to have added the feature to pander to children, like "ooh look, a horsie! I LOVE my horsie, it's so pretty!!!!" right after they made an april fools joke out of it.

The model and textures are more complex than any mob in the game (even the ender dragon!).

The biggest thing I hate about them is that they're so dopey (like if it was intentional). They randomly open their mouth and look at you (they might as well have added a horse mask into the game).... and they had to add donkeys in just so they could have it say "hee-HAAAAW".....

It's just..... annoying. On the same level as the default villagers with giant noses and "hurrrrr" voices. Seriously, are they trying to turn the game into a joke? If I wanted that sort of thing I'd play some sort of mod like "Mo' creeps and weirdos"......

Not requesting a lock as of yet, but I wish for some oversight in case a flame war were to start. I did not expect this thread to grow this unexpectedly. This could be an unstable subject.

I never used the mo-creatures mod, mostly because I really didn't like the horses in the mod, and thus I sort of dislike the current vanilla minecraft horses... the horse mod I used before horses were added was: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/107 ... -textures/ and I adore all the features in that mod and it makes the horses they added seem so boring...

For the most part I really wish they would have considered using more graceful looking horse models for vanilla. :/

Now I'm being kind of negative, don't get me wrong, I'm super grateful they added horses at all (I'm a horse fanatic, pigs and saddles just wasn't cutting it for me.)

But honestly... there's a lot of things about the vanilla horses that just don't sit comfortably with me. I really wish you could control the speed on horses better (I'd love to take a slow trot with my horse not always running at the speed of light x_x) I wish that they had more saddle options maybe, horse shoes, leather armor that could be died different colors would be so amazing! ... and of course my biggest gripe is the horse model itself. I just think it's too clunky it doesn't really have that horsie feeling, and honestly it doesn't have a minecrafty feeling to it either. I never liked mo-creatures cus the animals always felt so out of place to me like, they were so obviously a modded in feature, I don't like stuff feeling like it's a modded in feature.
I like stuff like witches and bats and red-stone, that has a real good unrealistic minecraft taste to it while still satisfying the need to make minecraft the best virtual reality ever. That's just how I feel about it.

Again though... I really am grateful for the horses they added there's just a few things about them that quietly nag at me in the back of my ever-so-whiney-complainy-picky-mind. xD

Horses are awesome, and they give reason to build stables for them. If you're lucky, you can get a super fast one that you can ride around everywhere. They require little maintenance and come in a variety of colors. Sure, to ride them you need a saddle, but look around enough and you'll find one. I think horses are one of the best additions to Minecraft and I hope to see more we can do with them

I love riding them. They're the best.

I dislike the horses myself but I don't think they should be removed. I think they should be redone. I don't like thier models (too detailed, too ugly) and the way they work - you can jump over a tree while going faster than a boosted minecart.

My only complaint about horses is that it's hard to move around. You can only go through openings that are 3 blocks high and 2 blocks wide. I wish you could get horses with wings, like in the Mo Creatures mod.

i love them adds more to adventure maps too and midevil servers got better

I don't like them due to the fact that it takes forever to tame. Plus they not worth it.

Pretty sure Notch had horses in mind way before Jeb took over. The only issue I have with them is that their movement only works properly with no/low latency. If you're on a server with high latency they are almost unusable.

Maybe because they make annoying sounds and there are some really ugly patterns Personally I think they are pretty cool :p

adds more blocks to make stuff from.
And no horses are not modern they had them in medieval times

People just naturally hate people who own ponies. And a horse is just a bigger pony. Thus hate is bridged over.

They're impractical and can clog up a server. I don't hate them. I just believe it's easier to walk.

I think horses are glitchy and movement for me is REALY jerky so i tend to walk.

Cause Minecraft was suppose to be this game with not many modern features (don't really know how to word it) but when jeb started adding more and more features like the horses. They don't really fit into Minecraft. This might just be my opinion.

Meh, i can never find saddles unless on multiplayer. so i just have chickens as pets. they lay eggs so they help alot
