Windows 8.1 Huge FPS Drop
Hello. I currently own a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64-bit beast PC. Whenever I play on Windows 7, I get a FPS of 120 with it capped at 120 fps. When I play on Windows 8.1, it drops to 5 FPS. I was wondering if anyone could possibly help me with this problem, since I've been trying to switch most of my stuff to Windows 8.1.

16 GB DDR3 1866 MHz G. Skill Sniper Memory
AMD Trinity APU 3.8 GHz Quad-Core w/ DirectX 22 AMD Radeon HD 7660D (Getting a Video Card Compatible w/ APU that will Dual-Graphic) GPU can play Battlefield 3 on Medium at 35-60 FPS at 1366x768 (Average FPS is around 45 FPS)

I'll look at the drivers and see if that's what's it. I didn't update to Windows 8.1, I dual-booted it with 7. Also, something making me kind of doubt the driver thing is that when I play Battlefield 3 which is kind of an older game now it runs on Medium at 1366x768 at 30-50 FPS on Windows 7, but 35-60 on 8 and I play a lot of games on there too. But, I'll definitely check out the drivers.

Have you actually used 8? And more specifically, Windows 8.1?. It literally downloaded in under 10 minutes and is much more efficient and faster, though there are some small things about it that can get frustrating. Of course, we all have opinions.

I already did Google it, which is pretty much why I'm here. Computer manufacturer wouldn't work, since I built my PC, but maybe AMD or something could tell me it.

I updated to windows 8.1 not too long ago, and it broke a lot of things for me. I had to redownload a lot of my drivers from HP, and all of my game settings and resolutions were reset. There have also been a lot of updates for me too, so if you have any pending updates you should download them now. I'm also not really a computer person, so I can't help you a whole lot. I just recommend downloading/updating drivers and getting updates. If none of that helps you might want to google it or contact your computer's manufacturer.
Is your graphics card still supported under Win8.1? And, for the record, I think Windows 8 sucks. Windows 7 is better.

i have windows 8.1 and i run at around 100-300 fps so it has to be a virus
Doesn't have to be a virus. It could be drivers. I'm great with computers and pretty sure I don't have a virus, except maybe Adware, which I need to look into. Also, most viruses probably wouldn't affect my FPS. Also, Microsoft Security Essentials finds malicious files so easily, though can't always get rid of it successfully. You should of seen how many times I had to re-quick scan and remove the Backdoor virus (They get to control the PC :O, stole my MC account) before I realized I'd have to contact Microsoft, which after I did I realized that I have to get it out myself, until after he stole my Minecraft account and we talked.
Maybe Windows 8.1 doesn't have a supported graphics driver for your card?
Trying to update the graphics drive on the Windows 8.1 side might help. Then again the card might not have a driver that supports Windows 8.1, but it's still worth a try.
