Hey Guys! I'm looking forward to getting a new laptop to replace my current laptop, and I was wondering if these laptop specs can run Minecraft and other games good.

CPU: Intel Core i7 3630QM Mobile Processor 2.40 GHz 6M Smart Cache

Memory/RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

Video: NVIDIA GT 640M 1GB PCIe Video

Hard Drive: 750GB 7200RPM SATA300 Hard Drive

Thanks!

Yeah that's more than my computer's VRAM. It'll play Minecraft very well, assuming you remove all the bloatware that comes on it as soon as possible.

I'd get it if it was at a good price (and I had the money lol).

Better than my specs, and I get around 300 FPS normally in Minecraft. So I would say yes you should get anywhere from 200-600 FPS

600 FPS would be slow motion. That computer will prob be fine for MC

Slow motion? Wut? Anything over 60 fps (or 75 or 120 if you're fancy) would refresh faster than most modern monitors...

Anywho, that processor he has can TurboBoost to 3.4 GHz, so the OP should be perfectly fine if he's letting it TurboBoost while playing.

:O What are your specs? My specs are better than this laptop, but I only get 55+...

Yeah, the processor is kinda limiting seeing as Minecraft runs on only one core, but Optifine can direct chunk loading to another core, so I guess you could call it multi-core then...

The other issue that I'm having is that you didn't post the video memory. Anything over 512MB should run Minecraft decently if you install Optifine and set chunk loading to "multi-core."

Don't expect to record on this computer, though.

Woops. I guess I'm blind today.

Regardless, it'll run Minecraft well, definitely not so badly it's to the point of insanity, which is how my old Acer netbook ran anything. _-_

Minecraft mostly cares about the speed of your processor not how many cores so 2.4 ghz... well it will run probably ok if its just vanilla minecraft.
