World downloading troubles - HELP

I've downloaded a world from planet minecraft, I've unzipped it, and placed a copy of it into both my saves file AND backup file, yet it won't show up in my worlds list in-game. What in the hell am I supposed to do?

Try to check on the page you downloaded the map from if it advertises the version of minecraft its for. It may not be the same version as the one you are using.
Maps for MC1.12.2 and lower do not show up as maps in MC1.14 and higher, but most can be converted.

check if whatever you're putting in the saves folder have files typical for worlds directly in it.
