i am looing at protecting a rather large area using world guard on my server.
the area would be 500x500 blocks.
which equals 64 million blocks from bedrock to build limit
how much memory would world guard use to protect something that size? is it even feasible?

Yeh, also the world is actually already setted as a region named __global__ if u want to set rules for the whole world
ok thanks! thats great news!
Oh we are talking about protecting here?
Man the one time I don't read the thread.
Yeah go ahead and protect the whole world, it won't matter.

I've protected HUGE areas (probably in the range of 1,000,000 x 1,000,000) With no problems. Protecting a large area will not result in much decrease in server usage. as jayman said, if it was world editing an area that big, that's much different. That would crash your server.
Making it a region with Worldguard would not crash your server. Now if you edited it with WorldEdit that would be a different story.
My server spawn is much larger it is a huge WG region. It didn't crash or even lag when i made it a region.

Anyone else have anything to add?
Moved to Server Help.
Thanks I didn't know if this counted as help or just a question
You will crash your server even if you had the most amount of ram in the world (not literally).
Do it in sections. Like maybe 50x50 each section? Best play it safe rather than crash the server.
Technically, you could probably do 100x100, but I always played it safe.
