I am currently using aternos servers and i created an xp farm in difficulty easy. But it doesnt seem to work even after afking for 10 mins i can get it more than 2 mobs and that even if i am lucky
1. Its 100 blocks above ground and with another 70 blocks is afking spot as i saw in tutorial
2. But someone on reddit told me in realm for mobs to spawn player needs to be 24-42 blocks away and i thought im playing multiplayer so that can be it
HELP ME FIND THE FAULT PLEASE

Hi Rit, there could be several things going on with your xp grinder. Natural mob spawning in multiplayer has a bunch of things to consider. One of these is that the mob cap which in singleplayer is only taken up by you, is now shared with everyone else on the server. So the concept that makes it so mobs can only spawn in your farm (being 100 blocks above ground with an afk platform above that) isn't going to behave the same way as it would in singleplayer. If even one other player is on, all of the eligible blocks around them will be able to spawn mobs just as they would if you had built your farm on the ground. This leads into another problem. Hostile mob spawning in Minecraft prioritizes lower parts of the world first. That is why farms built at Y=0 are the most efficient that is possible in the game. Going back to having other players on, not only will the space around them be spawning mobs and filling up the mob cap before your farm can, it will also be prioritized because they will be lower down in the world than you are. So when the game goes to spawn mobs, it will likely spawn all of the mobs on the lower level eligible spaces around other players online at the time, and not spawn any in your farm. My best suggestion if you are just looking to grind some xp, would be to find a mob spawner in a dungeon that you can build a grinder style farm out of. They are super easy and quick to put together, and they are not effected by the mob cap or other players in the same way that farms relying on natural mob spawning are. Best of luck to you, I hope you get a setup figured out soon!
well for starters, the player needs to be 24-42 blocks away not 70
