Hey, I've been using a host called ProfessionalXen for over a year now, and have had nothing but a great experience. I suggest checking them out for yourself!
http://professionalxen.com/minecraft/
They provide state of the art servers for competitive prices at $4/GB. My absolute favourite thing about them is that the customer service is just amazing. I will often get a reply within a few hours, compared to the two day wait that most large hosting companies will have. This can be crucial to your server.
There are many reasons why one should consider ProfessionalXen to host their server.
Also you can get recurring 10% discount with the coupon code "TheMineShack".
Reasons to choose ProfessionalXen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMFzutPpEEw
You can read lots of testimonies from others who have used this service at this link: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/servers/minecraft-server-hosting/other-hosts/556423-pro-xen-minecraft-hosting-multicraft-cp-mcpe-pc
Happy hunting!

I moved this thread to "Server Help" where it's more relevant, since this is technically a question. It doesn't belong under "Minecraft Discussion", which is focused on discussing the actual game, not servers.

hmm, like what? I'm interested in getting a host but i'm not sure what to look for.. I need somthing worth allowing 100+ people on without a spec of lag.. I'd also like some advice on where I should advertise... Don't wanna be another dead "New release" server...
thanks for the input guys..
3GB for 15$ is an averagely good price?

Its not only the RAM that you need to worry about, you need to see what the computer specs are and etc.
I have been through a lot of hosts through the years from small servers to huge dedicated servers. I recommend to use Intreppid.

They are a bit pricey, but its well worth it for the hardware they provide. You can ask for a custom build or buy there Minecraft servers for 10$/GB. But the best part about it is the DDoS Protection. Its best for Minecraft servers that cannot pay for the big guns. I am a big fan of them

I tend not to use hosts as most are scams. $35 isnt the global worth of 2GB of usage. I say if you have the money make a server from home. You dont have money TRY to find a host
Most hosts aren't "scams", they merely sell for more expensive prices to compensate for, better support, better hardware and other things. Some hosts are just expensive, but it doesn't make them a scammed, since they give you everything they still promised.
If you host a server from home, the energy costs, internet costs and the maintenance would make it almost as expensive as just paying for a host monthly. On top of that homehosted servers enjoy a massive list of disadvantages,
- Doesn't have many useful software that companies have
- Much slower internet
- Hackers, DDoSers and DoXers have immediate access to your real ip address
- You have to keep the server computer on at all times
- Energy costs, maintenance costs, and such would make it almost as expensive
- You don't have any support when something goes wrong
- A server computer can get really hot, if you keep it in your room, beware to not sleep properly during nights.
Now please don't comment about something you don't know.
OP: There are many hosts which are really good, my recommendations are
https://ggservers.net/, https://mcprohosting.com/.

i was taking your post seriously until you said i dont know what im talking about. i do actually.
Most hosts dont even do it to give players a easy way to host server. They overprice the bill and usually promise things that dont go through.
All the things you said a computer from home cant do or are bad can be fixed easily.
Yes the bills will be a lot but if you have enough money i would definitely do it from home. i clearly said if you dont have enough money then i would try to find a host.
so please before you comment nonsense please read the full comment.

They are pretty pricey, but you know, lowest price is never the best! That just means there is a catch with their features. FGServers actually host's one of GGServers dedicated servers. Therefore, that's why GGServers hosting is bad, because it's going through 2 hosts and then to the consumer.

Just because GGServers use a dedicated server provided by FGServers doesn't make it any worse, the dedicated server doesn't get any slower nor does it get harder to access.
