You upload the image onto a website that can host images (such as Imgur or Post Images) and then insert them into your topic by copy-pasting the image's link into the "Insert/Edit Media" thing (after clicking on the "Insert/edit media" button) and then click save. If need be, you can resize your image by unchecking "Autosize" and changing the numbers in the width and height fields.
