Idea for a Pipe datapack

I've only seen one Datapack makes fluid pipes but nobody has made item pipes. I'm imagining that this is very difficult and that's why nobody has done it before. Fluid pipes use end rods and this imaginary pack would probably use a similar method. For functionality maybe there can be two types of pipes Regular and extraction. Extraction pipes take stuff out of the chest and furnace outputs while regular pipes put things in containers. I'm not sure if this is even possible I'm just putting the idea out there
