As many of you may or may not know, 1.7.6 - 1.7.8 have some CRITICAL changes to minecraft.
Before you ask, no, these are not bug-fix updates.
These updates are to move farther along with the name changing feature that will be added to minecraft after 1.8 is released.
The way that Mojang did this was by making every player have a UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) and also make it easier for the new skins to be supported by making all of the skins be handled SERVER side instead of Client side. This removes support for NPCs, Player Disguises, and Colored Name Tags on the TAB list. The only solution to fix this, is to turn everyone into a pig. Sadly, this will not happen. In 1.7.9 Mojang decided to re-add the ability for that kind of stuff, but it will be un-supported. In 1.8, the ability will, once again, be dropped, but for good this time.
Since this is a cracked server, most of you have been able to do this for a long time. Now that it is also supported by premium minecraft, changing your name will sort-of be the same. PEX has added UUID support, so you will keep your rank, but Essentials and a few others have not, sadly. If you DO change your name, you will lose all of your money, items, plots, and factions.
