Again my opinion but wouldn't it be better for everyone if Mojang focused on not the content but the engine itself? Considering the content already exists that you enjoy as a mod of not poor quality?

Yes it is,
But out of curiosity...
So what do you do in the nether besides grab a little glow dust and maybe a blaze rod?
You make a nether portal go maybe once or twice and forget it....
Compared to the mod aether ... which is a complete expansion.
It would be nice if they added the Aether, would make going to the nether actually useful :/

The aether is based off a world type defined in the code called skylands...
Which never was implemented.

do you mean as in the aether in mc vanilla which would never happen or when will the aether update in which case when 1.3 comes out
i wish it was u can't put it in to 1.2.5 you have to downgrade minecraft to play it sucks and it won't work in 1.3 cuz they won't update it
It is for 1.2.5, The Aether Team released a pre-release for 1.2.5.
And you only need Forge and Player API in order to use it.(And AudioMod for music/sounds.)
