The most fun i had in minecraft was in alpha and early beta, but that's just because everything was new and i was an idiot trying to figure it all out. Now that i know so much, i would go insane from boredom if i tried playing alpha again. I prefer minecraft just the way it is right now.

Complete. It's about the entire game experience for me. Though there isn't much difference between the latest beta versions & complete... I'm still hoping there will be new content someday.

sed11LoganZepicBeta 1.6 I tryed playing alpha but...the spark it just wasnt there 1.7 was awesome too adding pistons with the clever redstone contraptions,, well I cant hate on alpha I did find it more challenging but 1.8 and + ruined my minecraft for me....
Well its what mojang ment minecraft to be.
besides you don't even have to do the new stuff you can play lie you did in 1.7.3 and before why does no-one understand that 1.0.0 is great people stop crying about the updates :/

BETA back in 1.7.3, when minecraft was at its best, before it went downhill

I started playing Minecraft since the nether update, but I would have to say 1.7.3,The land generation was amazing and there was many nice sights. But I would really choose anything before 1.8 to me 1.8 is when Minecraft started going down hill, because pretty much every update before 1.8 was balanced instead of things sticking to one certain thing generating all the time, the seed generator before 1.8 had different sights all the time,I'm sure if you make a new world in 1.0 you would spawn in a swamp, then make another world a swamp again,It just repeats itself over and over. But I do think that once 1.8 came around the cave systems were improved, but that is the ONLY thing I like about the new updates.

I really liked the first prerealese of 1.8. IT felt like i had just bought the game it was so different. Alpha terrain generation was cool too. It had lots of stuff that was considered bugs but they were awesome.

I stated at the beginning of BETA, and I thought it was great.
But I have to admit, in 1.7.3 I thought that was good enough with the pistons and all.
The hunger bar just ruins it, maybe the advanced combat was good too.

Beta. Alpha was very new, but not enough to do. I loved Beta 1.2_02 and remembered how long it lasted, right after the Halloween Update. That was so much fun, to think its been over a year is insane.
I remember making a treehouse, and flipping out every time I found coal and trying to be so cautious and efficient while my friend seemed to just know everything to do xD
And then I got a inv editor (I think it started with an S) and upgraded my treehouse, to a tree mansion. The lava floor seemed so crazy, and a giant waterslide. oh I wish I still had that world

I joined when it was in Beta 1.7.3 and I read so much of the minecraft wiki that I know how everything works now. lol.
I really enjoyed Minecraft in 1.7.3. I played many cool servers and met people. I don't even know if the server I played on WORKS anymore. D: I had an epic house on the side of a mountain and I made mineshafts and found diamonds. I found out about the server when someone on a classic server I played on told me about it. Oh, the memories. I'm still trying to find a fun, working, friendly minecraft server. :P The classic server I play on now has a beta server, but neither of the servers are ever up. xD

I joined in around alpha 1.2 and i got to say it was my favorite because it was a lot more simple than minecraft is now

Deal with it, Mojang is taking the RPG route for the remainder of the development of Minecraft, so if you prefered the classic meaning of Minecraft and when things were more about mining, return to 1.7

We weren't griping...

I like 1.0.0 best, probably because it's the latest update and it has the most stuff.
1
i love 1.0 but after around 1.5 i started like 1.3 it just didnt have that feeling of how strange everything looked and when i found something new. but i still love minecraft and i love everything that was added beisides the cavemen squidwards.

I came about 1.7.3 I personally, like 1.0.0. The game is complete and deserves to be loved as it is, they are not going back. I agree, everything felt new, but it wouldn't have after a couple months because you would have figured out everything right then.
1
1.7.3 i thought was great besides it was boring so i installed some mods and like almost a brandnew game besides that the new stuff wasnt actually made by mojang but it was still great to see something new before 1.8 now i hate the terrain gen everything is so cool now thats its actually not even awesome or cool to find water neither diamonds or mountains and deserts are crazyly hard to find now not even joking

That's one big run-on sentence...

Alpha FTW!

I started playing around Beta 1.2 I miss the days when I was still discovering everything, learning to craft, not knowing what all the different mobs looked like or did. The game seemed so much bigger then, so much more to discover.
Looking at the big picture, however, I love all the features added when the game was released in 1.0. The game feels more like a video game now, it's more complete. While it's still a sandbox game, there is now an objective (sort of).
While the game will never be the same as it was that first week playing it, I think my favorite version of Minecraft is the current one.

yeh i know what you mean, everything felt so new..

ALPHA.
Alpha was when minecraft survival was actual SURVIVAL.
For example: In alpha, iron was awesome to find and everyone loved it.
Now, iron is literally as common to find as coal.
