Hello,
First of all this is meant to be peaceful and a suggestion. Personally i hate the new terrain generation code from 1.8 and beyond, yes there are many cool things but i did love the older generation very much. Now the Point of this thread is to get enough comments so that we can have a build in version selector for the game. What i mean is that you can select any version of the game at anytime starting from Alpha (possibly Indev) all the way up to the present. I think this would make many minecraft players that miss the old Nostalgiac feeling of the game. Also I am hoping we can convince Mojang to put up older release versions of the vanilla servers, then many players can enjoy playing minecraft in older versions of the game. I am not pretending to know everything but come on, how hard can this be, they must have all the releases some where and I think that it would make so many people happy. McNostalgia does great work, but it only goes so far, you cant downgrade servers with that. So please help me out and lets ask Mojang to do this, lets make this seen. Thanks so much for your time and effort.

Say wha...?
Does anyone from the community want to or know someone that might be willing to make this?
Mojang would never do this because of the lack of utility added. This would also require rewriting the game client, which does not need any modification to run the current game and deliver the additional content such as the news feed. The company will be more interested in fixing issues that are in the game right now (things like server crashing bugs etc.) and releasing new content, to bother with what would not be something that benefits the majority of the community. The number of people that want to play ancient versions of the game is very small, while the number of people demanding new features be added is almost everyone, and so with sheer weight of numbers, that wins out by default. If you would like to play an older version of the game, Mojang has added that by allowing you to select no when being asked to update. Beyond that, I do not see them ever adding something like that. It will be up to the community to create a tool like this.

I really do hate beta 1.8,1.0.0,1.1,1.2 they because of the hungerbar and the new mobs. I just like playing beta 1.7.3 thats the update i really loved.
1.0.0,1.1.0,and 1.2 arn't Beta -_-
What does being beta have to do with any of this?, and I think he was referring to 1.8 only. But don't you think that this game should be in beta? I mean, there are frequent updates
OMG i loved 1.7.3 but they removed the greatest thing in 1.8.1......

I think this would be pretty cool to add in-game! It does become a hassle re-downloading old .jar files when you accidently upgrade or if your servers aren't updated yet! Though I do feel that I should tell you that this isn't the "Official" MineCraft forums so not many of the Mojang team will likely see this post... Though, with our very talented members I'm sure someone will make a mod for this!
