Can anyone help? So I open my minecraft launcher and I hit log-in. It sits for about 7 seconds then says I can't connect! Please help! Help please!

we are all having this problem it is either from the new update, or minecraft.net is down
It`s both, so many people want to update, Minecraft.net went berserk and drove himself in wall 'Nuff said
