Controller or Keyboard?
Just out of interest really…. Who here plays minecraft using a controller and who uses the keyboard?
I’ve always been a console player, so have only ever played Minecraft on Bedrock with the aid of my Xbox controller, but I’ve just ordered a new laptop (arriving next week… yay!) and will be switching to the Java version and playing on that. I booted up my old laptop just now and had a little go at playing Minecraft on it, laggy as hell, but just about working… and my god it’s sooooo difficult to play without a controller!! I’m all over the show! Does anyone else play both? What do you guys find easier?

i played both but i like pc better
You guys are right… new laptop is here and I’m playing properly with a keyboard and mouse for the first time… so so much better… will take a little getting used to but much improved gameplay, I can see why most people would opt for a keyboard and mouse!
Personally, I think you should try to start using a keyboard. You will eventually get used to it like all things in life. I use keyboard and I ME MY OPINION I think that a keyboard is better because there are shortcuts like being able to just click "5" to get to the fifth slot.
I’m definitely going to try! I think I will get used to it.. I hope so anyway =)

I agree. PvP and bridging *might* also be difficult with a controller, but you can play BedWars with it.

I’d like to play with the keyboard, i think I could get used to it…. But I’m a bit limited on space, I won’t be playing at a desk.. but I’ll figure something out =)

jk, but switching from a controller to a keyboard should be easy since the controls (WASD keys) kind of have the same layout as a controller.
Also, you should get the hang of it once you play Minecraft very often. Besides, you can always change the controls to fit your liking.

I hope so. Just looked up how to configure my controller through steam.. and it looks pretty straight forward… so if I can’t get the hang of it I’ll do that. The only thing is I plan to stream through twitch… not steam… so how would this work out?? Does anyone know?
ETA: just done a bit of Googling and I think I can broadcast my steam stream to twitch.. I think… will have to see how that works out!

Why not just use OBS?

You should! OBS is like the standard in streaming (mostly games). It is also a good recording software. I know of many YouTubers and streamers who use OBS for their videos and livestreams.
Aah right, sounds interesting. Would I be able to configure and run my controller through it do you know?

Controller is probably slightly easier to start with, but on keyboard and mouse you can get a lot better
Ok that’s good to know, I did find it easier when I attached my mouse, only thing is I’m playing in very limited space, I don’t have a desk set up, I literally play off my lap on the bed.. so finding it a bit fiddly, maybe it’s something I’ll get used to =/
tbf i use a book as a mousemat and it works fine (i just naturally play at max sens lol)
Lol, I’ve just cleared out a corner of the bedroom and going to try and use it as my ‘Minecraft office’ haha. Now I just need my laptop to arrive!
