My favorite Role Play server is SkyPrison

I'm working on a RP server, forge based with custom mods I've written myself - but, we need a lot more people to help build up the world before we can really do that.

Minecraft can be quite hard to really RP with, but making an RPG with RP elements is much more of a winner. Chat-wise, I believe in an OOC global chat and local RP chats- people can leave the OOC one if they only want to roleplay and vice versa.

The main issue is getting enough people on in the first place. Any server is hard to get off the ground, but RP even more so - you need an established player base for newbies to be able to RP properly.

second, if anyone needs help on making a roleplay server, just msg me, I've been helping servers since a loong time, and I can always, always, find the right plugin you need.

ugh, guys, First of all: - local chat within 128 blocks? this is rp, it should be at most 30, if ya want a good roleplay server: http://mc-riseofkings.net/ they're one of the best roleplay servers I've ever played on.

by default RP servesr should lock players in local channel so you can only see chat within 128 block radius. The only cross server chat should be from motd, console required messages and admin chat but general chat should be contained to specific rooms.

You can always offer general chatrooms that you can /ch g (Global Non RP Chat) or /ch rp for servers that wish to do the complete opposite.

I wish there was more RP servers that did 1 big RP event including everyone online.

I'm planning on making an RPG server, not sure if I want it RP or not, probably be easier to pull of what I want if it was RP though.

I think Minecraft is an awkward platform for RP. The world isn't terribly immersive (you're constantly aware that everything is made of blocks) and the chat system broadcasts everything to the entire server rather than just to nearby players. Although, IIRC I have seen a mod that allows for "local chat," which would help with that aspect of it.

I need an actual, Honest to God, RP server. so many of them say they are, and they're not! everyone asks for stuff, no one RPs. its really annoying. If someone gave me an honest, true RP server, I would be happy.

I love em. Me and my team are setting one up. Costum map, costum plugins etc.

If they're well organized and know what they're doing, yeah I like Rp servers. But gosh, I hate the spam in the chat. If I do rps (mostly with mah bestie) we private message each other so noone has to see the spam. :3

It's hard to pull it off.

But when it's organized well enough, it's amazing.

We need to see more of them. It is hard to find good RP Servers.
