Does UPnP Work??

Does UPnP ( http://www.xldevelopment.net/upnpwiz.php)
work to portfoward? right now im using something called grappl ( www.http://grappl.io/ ) and it works just fine... when it does work.. at this moment its not working so im exploring some options
btw i cant portforward because my dad

and the first comment is about UPnP im just wanting to know if UPnP is safe and works
