I finally got my minecraft to update 1.1 but now every server i join it says downloading terrain for about 2 min then once i join the server im falling straight threw a void!

Then your computer is a brick, as stated above. It will ALWAYS let you type stuff, even if it doesn't actually appear when you hit enter.
The servers may seem glitchy because of connection issues. Check that your internet connection is working properly and that the server isn't on the other side of the world. Local servers should (generally) have less lag.

also with the void thing if you fall go back fall go back and fall go back. then its just lag and you can RELOG.

No i just keep falling threw a void i dont lfall and go back!! And my computer used to take downloading terrain like 5 sec!! I think it has something to do with the glitch!
