Will growing wheat with torches work just as well if you were to use sunlight?

I have a quick question as well, does Glowstone match the productiveness of the sun?

NOTHING matches the sun when it comes to growing crops. It is always better to have crops above ground, as other light sources besides the sun (e.g. torches, glowstone, redstone torch, redstone lamp, etc.) can all be broken or destroyed. Also, the sun is brighter.

It makes crops grow much faster when planted next to water, as well, but you probably knew that…!

You can use torches for wheet, but you CANNOT use torches with Sugar Cane, but you can use it with pumpkins, and water mellons.
