I can't believe no one mentioned this. D00d, delete your old texture packs, and you'll probably be able to play on the downloaded version again.

Everyone was a noob once, guys.
In my experience every update has caused lag issues on my not-so-good computer, so I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it's making gameplay difficult.

DERP. just go to http://www.minecraft.net then click where it says "Play in browser", log in then play from there.

dude try to play in browser go to minecraft.net and log in and play in browser that should fix it

Yes i am getting a black screen but i dont have any mods because i have no idea how to install them as soon as i get to the minecraft title screen it goes black

Did you update any mods you had? I'm assuming you're just getting a black screen at login
