Well, once i updated to Minecraft 1.0.0 i've been getting terrible lag. My menu even lags. This happened for me in 1.8.1 but it used to work fine in 1.8.1 then it just suddenly started lagging. I was wondering if anybody else could be expieriancing this or have a solution?

It's because, Minecraft 1.0.1 or whatever, is released at minecon, no supercomputers there. fd's being used to set up a game as huge as minecraft on a mac book or a razor? that would pretty much kill the game, until it's re-patched in around 4 weeks if you be lagging, try something else for a few hours. read? watch a movie, whatever...give it time. notch and mojang can only do so much at minecon...

I think it's due to a memory leak. At first it starts clean and no lag then over time it starts to lag and keeps lagging.

The more RAM Minecraft uses the more lag you get. That happens to me on Singleplayer. I get about 70% used RAM with 60 FPS then about two hours later it goes up to 95% with 30 FPS. Try allocating more RAM to Minecraft.

I've found 1.0 to be very lag-free its great. If you have a 64-bit OS then use 64-bit java.

I DO NOT recommend updating to java 7, in fact if you have it I recommend uninstalling and getting java 6.

Honestly, it never did much for me. Some people have told me that it gave them more FPS though. This is about the Java thing btw.

I have a 32 bit system. I have Java 6. Minecraft used to be very lag free for me until just one random day i got lag. I don't know how this happened.

Try updating your Java to Java 7. If that doesn't work wait a week or so for MCP to come out then wait another week for Optifine to come out.
