I have an older Lenovo Thinkcentre m91p tower with the following specs and have the latest MC Java installed (tried various flavors of Linux w/ similar results). It runs fairly well but pretty an occasional crash and pretty low FPS (15-20). I know the lack of a dedicated graphics card and the integrated graphics is below the minimum requirements so I am curious w/ the CPU / Ram setup if adding a dedicated GPU would be a significant jump in FPS or if the age of the rest is going to still hold things back and not worth the investment
OS: Tried Ubuntu, Mint XFCE, MC Linux
CPU: Intel Core i5 2400 (quad core) / Intel HD Graphics 2000 integrated graphics
RAM: 6GB
HDD: 250GB SSD
thanks for the help!

focus on a better CPU. MC runs less off of GPU.
afaik, MC only uses 1 core as well
a CPU with better per-core performace should help a lot

thanks for the reply ! i know the pc/cpu is a bit old but it seemed like the specs still were decent as far as what Minecraft would require so was hopeful that part was still sufficient. so a dedicated video card wouldn't help much w/ FPS in this situation you think? being below the min requirements w/ our integrated graphics that just jumped out to me intiially
