I would like to share an idea for a possible game mode that could be chosen for minecraft players.
The idea revolves around surviving the apocalypse.
The game mode would be a challenge to players as each day becomes harder to survive.
My idea would be that each player selects if they want to play either Survival, free build or apocalypse.
If players choose apocalypse they will have a certain number of days to gather and build (how long depends on difficulty) after the time is up destructive forces can shape the land slowly (this would prevent data overload- like when you let off 100??TNT. )
The destructive forces could be
Acid rain- kills crop??trees??causes slow attrition to player and if constant turns dirt to netherrack and sand to soul sand.
Gas clouds- kills player With quick attrition??animals has percentage to turn animals to hostile mob
Blocked out sun- obvious affects hostile mobs always present. Lower visibility
Magma plumes- formation of volcanoes
Earthquakes- fissures appear on the floor - could damage houses built by player.
Dropping sea level or raising sea level. -??dropping availability of water could prove challenging if you make water necessary for survival - increasing the amount of water could prove annoying if a base was flooded.
The appearance of giants - I have read somewhere that giants are already written in the game. With acid rain destroying trees giants shouldn't have much trouble getting around.
Finally to increase the challenge players should suffer attrition over days(hunger,thirst) so they have to leave home for resources, food and water.

even if it was just a mod it would be sick. and it would make survival island so much harder. also i forgot to mention that they should probs turn the water glitch off so that people cannot just make a infinite pond and survive off that.
also water should get contaminated after a while and so to get safe drinking water you have to put it in the furnace

I think this is kind of a new idea. Its not like a "zombie" apocalypse, which I have seen be suggested quite a bit. I think it sounds cool.
i would also like to put this idea to notch. but i dont know how i would contact him
