Correction: you CAN break obsidian, it just takes a lot more time and you do not receive an item drop.

Correction: almost all forms of light melt ice. This includes fire, glowstone, redstone lamps, jack-o-lanterns, and torches. Redstone torches, portals, and enderchests are the only sources of light that do not melt ice considering the light they produce is too dim.
