Yeah well on other servers I can talk and see my messages so it may just be a perms bug on the server :3 Thanks for your help so far guys
If it still happens even after deleting your .minecraft folder there is a slight possibilty that your firewall blocks the connection to the server. disallowing you to receive any data from other ip's other then yours. But thats probably not the case since you can join the server. If you need any help trying to resolve this issue. contact Mojang or PM me.
The problem might only be the Server, try going to other servers and see if the same problem happens.
Wow, has no one seriously figured this out? It happens to me a lot. Long story short, you have a bad connection to the server and you are getting server lag (where you are not receiving the required amount of data from the server databases to get updates in chat and where your location is on the server). I think you are very far away from where the server is actually hosted and it doesn't have a great connection so your messages are not appearing nor are yours. You know you have server lag also when you are moving but you don't see anyone else moving and then when you suddenly go back where you were. You don't really have a solution to this unless the server or you move to a closer place to get enough connection from where the server is hosted. Reconnecting might help.
This is not the issue, because he can see automessages and msgs
If you use Windows, Open your File Manager.
In the URL Part, type %appdata%
It should take you to a folder with ".minecraft" in the directory.
Delete that, and re-run minecraft
*BEWARE* It Deletes all servers, All worlds, And all Mods. I'm not sure about the Profiles
Hopefully that works!

I don't know in that case. Do you have any mods? If so that may cause a problem. Otherwise I would recommend making a new profile and using that.
If that doesn't work, I have no idea.

Go to Options > Multiplayer Settings.
Top right button should say Chat: Shown.
You probably have it set to commands only.

Does it work?
