Less than 24 hours before the next big Minecraft patch was scheduled for release, Mojang has decided to push back the update by a couple of days. Thankfully, it doesn’t sound like we’ll be waiting all that much longer for the debut of Minecraft Update 1.9.
On Tuesday, Mojang formally announced the delay of Minecraft 1.9, updating last week’s blog post to reflect the studio’s new release schedule. Rather than publish the next big Minecraft patch on Thursday, Feb. 25, Mojang has pushed the launch of Minecraft 1.9 back to the end of the month. There’s no word on what lead the studio to make such a decision but, barring any further delays, fans can now expect the game’s next patch to emerge on Monday, February 29.
In the interim, the Mojang has published Minecraft 1.9 Pre-Release 2, the latest in stream of preview builds dating back to July 2015. Pre-Release 2 includes fixes for more than half a dozen additional bugs, discovered after last week’s release of Minecraft 1.9 Pre-Release 1, along with a change to the way Minecraft handles pack spawning. Our latest glimpse of Minecraft Update 1.9 also corrects a bug that caused portals not to place players at the proper coordinates.
As always, it’s important to remember that new snapshots and pre-release builds are more than capable of corrupting your existing worlds. So any players planning to boot up one of their favorite worlds, once they’ve finished downloading Minecraft 1.9 Pre-Release 2, might want to back-up their save(s) before diving into Mojang’s latest preview of the game’s next patch.

PvP is not such a big deal in minecraft, why the long faces? Minecraft isn't about killing people, it's about having fun. I'm not exactly waiting for 1.9 so I don't really care, really. So, if you're so bugged about PvP, why don't you just play another game? There are other games other than Minecraft out there, so open your eyes and look around, the internet is filled with games.
And the new command block features, it makes map making way easier. Also block models in resource packs use more "parent" codes, meaning that you can easily bulk edit one type of block, using all kinds of textures (e.g grass/mycelium/podzol/snowed grass)

They added some great stuff! Like Elytra, Tipped Arrows, End City and so on...

1.9 is gonna bring lots of new changes to the table.
PvP is NOT ruined. It has just been made to where it requires actual SKILL. Spamming Left-Click is NOT skill. Now, you actually have to delay your attacks to deal full damage.
I think my favorite part about this update is the impact on the map creators, though. People can make super special mobs using commands, secret passages (Using walls and a falling sand entity), and some other really cool stuff! I can't wait to see what people will do with 1.9!

Never realized it was ever planned to be released on the 25th. Guess I was looking up the release date just after they delayed it.

Why is everyone so upset about the PvP changes?
PvP was so bad before, 1.9 is fixing it. If it takes too much skill, find something other than Minecraft to play for PvP. Spamming left clicks is not skill, however the integration of patience and strategy changes that.
Like seriously though, why would you play Minecraft of all things for PvP? it's the most dull and bare bones combat system I've ever seen in a game, yet so many people are obsessed with it and worship it like it's the next CS:GO of eSports.

I fully agree with you. I disliked PvP before since my mouse can't click very fast, and that was the entire game.. ^^

Yeah honestly the only thing I'm excited for is The End updates. NOT excited for the death of old PvP
