Hey Guys, I'm going to be starting YouTube and I want to know what you may think about how prepared I am for it.

Microphone:Blue Snowball
Commitment: I'm doing it for the enjoyment and fun of it, not for the money
Editing:Sony Vegas Pro 12
Recording: Fraps (Changing soon)
Games: A range selection of horror games, survival games and if my channel is successful I will move onto console also
Confidence: I'm getting used to doing commentaries so I would say a 7/10
Webcam: I have a built in one but I will be upgrading it soon

Anything else you might think I need?

I am not a youtuber, but I have thought about it for sometime.
Here are some things to think about.

-When you finish a project, the quality, would you watch it or is it: boring, audio is off, laggy, etc

-You HAVE to be consistent! This means you need to kinda treat it like a job, make a schedule and stick to it so people know when they can expect you to post.

-You HAVE to be consistent! No not a repeat, you have to play a select game(s).
Playing every single game known to man = no consistency
Playing a few games (again with your schedule) allows people to understand who you are.
"Oh n8moplaysmc, he is a minecraft youtuber, i watch him because he does a lot of survival maps and I like to see how he would go about playing the game from the start" etc

hope this helps =)

As long as you can handle recording and playing on a decent render distance, you should be fine.
My microphone isn't quite as nice as a blue snowball, but a bit of touch up with audacity does the charm.

There's a lot of things you can change to from Fraps. I switched to Ezvid. And yes, I don't actually use Ezvid's video editing features; what I do is I record the video in Ezvid (which doesn't lag Minecraft but instead uses resources from the computer, and if your computer is even remotely standard it can handle things fine, and the resulting video is also quite small and doesn't have an FPS bar), save the project, and then I go to Ezvid's data folder to steal the recorded video and bypass all the other bullcrap. Then I just plug it in into something like Windows Movie Maker (Don't judge me, I can't afford any fancy stuff) to make my videos.

So, yes. Use Ezvid, but only for its recording features. They're quite good, and pretty easy to hack and evacuate out so you don't have to be forced to use the pretty bad video editing mechanisms in Ezvid itself.

I'd use Mirillis Action, it's one of the best recorders, way better than Bandicam, or Fraps. And can your computer even handle recording and playing? Because if I'm watching a video, and they are lagging, I go to another video.

Ah, thank you for the advice. I think my laptop can handle recording and playing.
