this is a big problem!!! im on mac and i cant find my running server and when i try to quit terminal and start the server again, it says 'failed to bind port! maybe the server is still running on that port?!' PLZ HELP!!!

Type this into your terminal:
top
Find the minecraft program (should be 3-5 numbers and say minecraft)
kill -9 <program's ID numbers (3-5 number code)>

I don't own a mac, but it's probably because the server is still running in the background somewhere. Try typing "stop" to stop your server rather than just closing terminal. To fix it, you should just have to restart your computer, or if Macs have a terminal program, you should just have to end the Java process that your server is running on.
Delete all the files for you server. Download your server jar again. Let all the files refresh themselves. It will work. This has happened to me. I still havent figured out the problem but this solution works
