So I have a question. Sorry in advance if this seems like a dumb question. But say I find a server and said server has mods. Do I have to have the same mods installed on my pc to join the server?

If said server has mods installed, then yes you need those mods to join.
But, if the server supports mods, but doesn't have any installed, you may still be able to install certain mods, for example, SkyblockAddons for Hypixel Skyblock.
