One of my friends and I were talking about the shop on a server we were playing on (skyblock). Both of us have played on multiple skyblock servers, and eventually we started to discuss the shops. Without explaining our conversation, what do you prefer for a shop, using iConomy/Vault and having a large signshop, or trading cobblestone for dirt and so on with other items, all without using an economy plugin. Please also explain why.

Personally, I enjoy the trading mechanism rather than a basic cash system.

Trade shops make it a lot harder to trade with other players since there isn't cash in the economy. It's also a lot harder to get rarer items since you often have to trade items that are just as rare or a large number of items at a lesser rarity that you might not have. With a cash economy, trading with other players is easier because they can put the money toward anything they want.

Say I have some dirt and cobble. I have enough dirt and cobble to trade for one diamond if there was a cash economy, but we have a trade economy. No player is going to accept these vast amounts of junk for a diamond. With a cash economy, you can cash in junk to save for higher value items over time.

I think i like economy more because you can save up to more expensive stuff that way.
