Shaders problem

Hi all, I am having a problem with shaders. I have been playing Minecraft since the Halloween update and I finally ran into a problem that I couldn't fix through youtube or other means. I am relatively new to the community dispite playing for a long time. I am also apart of the Jurassic Rebuild team (currently a temp leader).

I have a decent rig, I am running 22gb of ram with a 660 gtx NVidia graphics card and I am still having problems with getting shaders to work. Any ideas?

Try to run shaders without any other mods. Then add one mod and test again. And then another

I'm confused. If you have for example 8GB wouldn't you want to have half of it allocated and the other half to the OS? It's not like it would make your game/OS any slower. If anything it would make it faster.

More RAM =/= faster, common misconception. When you add too much RAM, Minecraft will try to use more RAM. There's a sweetspot. When you allocate too much, you're taking up RAM that could be used for other applications and that will really impact performance in a negative way.

It's not just wasting RAM, you're actually slowing your computer down when you do that. Also, adding RAM won't improve performance for something that uses the GPU the way that shaders do. The reason why people add more RAM for mods is because they add more physical content, the shaders mod just allows the computer to render high quality images which uses the GPU almost entirely, not your RAM.

in general minecraft doesn't take advantage of so much ram, so putting more than 4gb is literally wasting ram

BRASHEXODUS: 1. I have 10 gb of ram dedicated to Minecraft (running 22 gb). 2. First thing I checked. 3. Trying to run pretty vanilla, but I am running some client side mods (Journey Map, Optifine and Just Enough Items/ Too Many Items) and JurassiCraft as well. 4.I could check that

Latiodile: Are you nuts? When I run 4gb of ram for Minecraft it lags to hell and horribly low frame rate. I use minimum of 6 gb. At least thats my preferences, (sorry if sounds rude). I played for the first 2 years with less than 15 fps, I will never go back to anything close.

sekwah41: I will look into updating even though I have just updated.

Thanks everyone.

Not a fan of NVidia in the slightest but you mean your having trouble running it or it showing in the first place? I mean if they don't show after startup you probably installed wrong. If there is a crash it could be you need to update and/or have some other problems.

thy1acineI also have 10 gb allotted to Minecraft to use.

woah, 10gb? that's WAAY too much, max you need is 4gb, and that's with shaders and a 256x pack

EDIT: see if you have any driver updates for your graphics card

I'm trying to get something running. But I am trying to get it working with Sliders Vibrant Shaders Lite. I also have 10 gb allotted to Minecraft to use. Every time I even try to get it to run it crashes I have tried and gotten the same results on 1.7.10, 1.8, 1.8.1, and 1.9 mostly for tests.

I tried the method used from OMGcraft. I have Optifine as well and have tried the integrated one that comes with that and it still crashes.

there is many possibilities why it could be crashing. 1)not enough ram to support your game/client.
2) might need to update your graphics adapter.
3) depending on mods you use and how its compiled.
4) your renderpass is on. if you need help message me on pmc lol it'll be alot faster than replying to this forum post
