Simple Mob Trap
I found a trap that is really easy to make.
the picture shows the first creeper to fall in(How-To below picture)

How-To!
-Dig out a 6x6 square
-make it 3 blocks deep
-place water along the sides (except the corners!) on the top layer of the hole
-THEN place water in the corners
-Lure mobs in. I cant garentee that they wont get out, but i havent seen one get out yet.
PS: this trap got me 4 music discs so far.
PSS: if this doesnt qualify as a mob trap because you have to lure mobs in, let me know.

Cool idea! (CREEPER DISHWASHER YAY!) I like to make "landmines." Instead of doing some complicated thing, I just dig 2 blocks down, put TNT in the bottom layer, cover it up with the biome's corresponding soil, and top it with a pressure plate! I use the plate's material wisely to camouflage with the ground if I want to kill another player. (pretty ironic for a creeper to set off a mine!)
In 1.2, i'm pretty sure that they were adding dirt slabs and pressure plates, but i geuss it never made it to the game griefing would be so much easier!
