i have been wanting to make a better version of my space marine skin so it would be grate if someone would let me know if it would work.

I used to use the HDskin mod, but it hasn't been updated since 1.7.3

Keep an eye on that plugin for updates. You can get templates from their site and design your skin in the meantime, but you won't be able to use it with 1.8 or later.
