Is teleporting cheating?

I mean i think it is, but what do you all think? My friend calls me a dumbf**k because i say it is. I mean look at it this way... Your cornered by 3 creepers and you think to make a heroic escape by hitting one and darting between the rest. But wait your friend says just disconnect and he'll tp you... So you just get tped to him and in the most safest possible way... Tping is just so cheap and i mean with the console command... What do you guys think?
